The International English language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication.

IELTS is available in two test versions:

It is divided into two components- Academic and General Training.

  • Academic training – for students desiring to study at undergraduate and post- graduate levels and for those seeking professional registration.
  • General training module is for candidates wishing to migrate to an English speaking country and for those wishing to train or study at below degree level.

IELTS Preparatory Course

The test components should be taken in the following order:

Listening
4 recordings, 40 questions approximately 30 minutes
Academic Reading : 3 Sections, 40 questions, 30 minutesGeneral Training Reading : 3 Sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
Academic Writing : 2 tasks, 30 minutesGeneral Training Writing : 2 tasks, 60 minutes
Speaking – 11 – 14 minutes
Total Test Time – 2 hrs. 44 minutes

IELTS SCORE- Performance is rated in each skill on a scale of 9 to 1. The nine bands and their descriptive statements are as follows:
